Dropping Off and Collecting

Please take note of the appropriate “Way In” and “Way Out” driveways into the centre. The speed limit inside the car park is 5 km/ph. We ask that parents park in the designated areas, there is also a cycle park available at the side of the building.

A number of security arrangements are in place to ensure the safety of children and their families. A swipe card system will allow access for regular enrolled families in and out of the building. New visitors to the centre are most welcome to visit us, at a pre-arranged time or required to ring the bell and the centre manager will welcome them in.

Parents are asked to ensure that all gates and doors are closed behind them at all times. Whenever you drop off or collect your child please advise a staff member. When children are being collected, we will only release the child to a parent or person stated in writing on your child’s enrolment form.

Attendance Sheets

It is essential for parents/caregivers to sign their attendance sheets and record the time they drop their child off and pick them up again. This is a legal requirement.

These attendance sheets are located at the office in the entrance to the centre. Signing the attendance confirms that a child has attended that day and their parents charged accordingly.

Most importantly, the attendance is used for security and in the event of an emergency.

Evacuation

An emergency evacuation plan is displayed in the entrance and at exit points located around the centre.

To ensure the centre can be safely and quickly evacuated we have fire drill practices.

If you are present when we have a fire drill you are legally required to participate in the procedure.

Emergency Text System

Heathcote Valley Preschool has introduced a multi-text phone system that enables us to send a bulk text to cellphones if there is an emergency at preschool, or if the centre has to close due to severe weather like snow storms. This allows families to quickly find out about the status of the preschool during an emergency.

If parents wish to receive this text message please add your cellphone number to the list at reception.

We believe that this will be the fastest way to contact families as phone lines can become very busy and overloaded during these times.
